Fall Back

As you go to bed Saturday night, be sure to turn your clocks and watches back one hour. We are happy for you to come to church early, but you may want that extra hour of sleep.

Ben Bridge

Thanks to Manny Delgado for the tip.

Sunday, November 4, from 7:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., all lanes on the Ben Franklin Bridge will be closed due to a charity event being held on the bridge.

The Three...

They say costumes bring out the inner self. I will have to think through what is being revealed by three of my support staff.

GO to Library

To further your enjoyment of the Global Outreach Conference the Church Library (located in catacombs room C4) has put together a Special Shelf of books related to our focus on Africa as well as some general books on Global Outreach. Many of the books are for the children of the church including M-nry Biographies, Novels about M-Kids in Africa, and true life stories of African outreach efforts. Come by and pick up something to read during the week and check back next Sunday as we hope to add books during the course of the conference.

Sunday at 5:15 pm, the parishes will have prayer meetings for global outreach in the church. Here are the locations. All are in the Delancey building, except for the nursery off of Reception Hall.

Saturday NIght Fun

Our second annual Missionopoly night is coming up this Saturday at 5:30 pm. (Registration begins at 5:00.) You can form your own team (5-6) or join one on the spot. Dinner will be provided in the form of generous samples located throughout the building. (Sort of like walking through Whole Foods or Wegmans). All this for the "suggested donation" of $4 an individual or $16 a team.

Here is my review posted for last year's Missionopoly. Check out the photos as well.

What a fun Saturday evening! Missionopoly was fantastic! I must admit I was a bit skeptical months ago when I heard that opening night of the Missions Conference would be a game. It turned out to be a great event in several ways I can think of:
- Got the different generations interacting with one another
- Got everyone involved in meeting the global partners
- Got the most interest and involvement in the displays
- Kept up everyone's interest throughout the evening
- Got many people involved through helping with the booths
- Brought in Carroll Wynne from sabbatical to lead his team to victory

Visiting a Daughter

Ginger and I attended Cresheim Valley Church this past Sunday, and I took part in the receiving of the first adult members of the church. They had actually received some young people already through their communicants class. Fifty-one were received, of which twenty-one were from Tenth. It was a special moment to see the fruit of Tenth's commitment to church planting. One new member gave her testimony of coming to faith through the outreach of the church. Thanks to Jeff Frazier for the picture.

Welcome, Graham!

New grandparents Elizabeth and Bruce Gunther, Godparents Yoshin and David Swank and new Uncle David Gunther give thanks to God for the birth of Graham David Gunther on October 29, in Houston, Texas, to Wendy and Karl Gunther. Karl grew up at Tenth and is teaching Reformation history at Rice University in Houston.

Turbo Group Starting

Have you ever thought of leading a Small Group Bible Study but wondered if you were up to it? Wonder no more. We are planning to have a Turbo Group to train you in the skills of leading a Bible study and you learn it by doing it with others in the group.

The group will meet for four weeks: We will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights: November 7, 14 and 28 and December 5. We will not meet the night before Thanksgiving, because we expect that people will be otherwise engaged for that evening.

How do you become part of the action? Contact Cora Hogue at the church office (215) 735-7688 or chogue@tenth.org to sign up.

All you need to bring to the meetings are your person and your Bible and a willingness to learn.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Just Seven More

Seven more people are needed to purchase and cook turkeys (20-23lb) for the Community Dinner on November 11. If you are able to help, please email dapple@tenth.org or sign up in the Delancey mail room. Please bring the carved meat, giblets and bones (for soup) to the kitchen on Sunday, November 11, either before 9:00 am.
