So, I am working at my desk when a call goes through the phone, "Rugar, can you go to Liz's office? She has caught a mouse."

Actor? Editor? Evangelist?

Michael Cassidy is preaching this Sunday both in the morning and evening. I've looked up the name on the internet and found these three men. Now who could it be? The actor, the video game e-zine editor, or the African evangelist?

A Quest for More

That is the title of Paul Tripp's new book. I, undoubtedly because of my influence on what he has learned, received a free, autographed copy!

Here is Paul's description of his book: This entire book is meant to stimulate you to think about one central biblical concept, the kingdom of God. But this book is not a theology of kingdom, nor an exposition of the kingdom passages in the Bible. No, it is simply a meditation on what Jesus meant when he called us to "seek first his kingdom." What does it really look like to expand everything our lives contain to touch the size of his kingdom?

Female roommate wanted

I am looking for a Christian female roommate to fill a spot in our apartment and wanted to get the word out to local churches. Working professionals or grad students preferred, but everyone will be considered.

Bella

Movie critic Andrew Fletcher sent this review in of the new movie "Bella."

Susan and I just saw "Bella". It is a fabulous movie... It won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006 --very well deserved in my opinion. I think it would be something you might like to feature on the blog, as it has a powerful pro-life message (upholding traditional Judeo-Christian/Biblical family values), but also is extremely well done aesthetically/artistically. It is something that our entire congregation would enjoy and could be used to reinforce or strengthen convictions with regard to the value of adoption. I warn you in advance that anyone who goes to see it should be prepared to have their heart strings profoundly moved!

On the Water Front

Please join us for the public presentation of a vision for the future of the central Delaware riverfront, AKA PHILADELPHIA'S WATER FRONT led by the PennPraxis office of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. It represents a year-long planning process in which thousands of Philadelphians from all walks of life worked together to imagine a bright future for seven miles of Philadelphia's original riverfront.

Night Lights on South Broad, November 7

WHAT: The Center City District will bathe building facades along the Avenue of the Arts with dazzling murals of light. In a fun, family-friendly event, there will be music, entertainment, free light-oriented giveaways and South Broad Street restaurants will be set up along the Avenue with booths selling finger food and beverages. Entertainment includes Joy Unlimited Gospel Choir, the Villanova University Marching Band, Mummertime, the Dixie Kings, the Mark Stinger Band, 60's Sensation, the West Philadelphia Orchestra and Rumble, the UARTS bucket drummers. Roving entertainment will include roller skaters, jugglers, stilt walkers, costumed characters, magicians and caricaturists. Terra Hall at Broad and Walnut will be lit in a brief “son et lumiere” presentation to the Philadelphia Orchestra’s recording of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony at 5:30, 7 and 8 p.m.

WHEN: 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 7 (Rain or shine)

WHERE: South Broad Street from City Hall to Pine Street. Buildings to be specially lit will be The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia (Broad and Chestnut), University of the Arts Terra Hall (Broad and Walnut), The University of the Arts Merriam Theater (Broad between Locust and Spruce) and The University of the Arts Dorrance Hamilton Hall and Anderson Hall (both on Broad between Spruce and Pine.)

WHAT ELSE? The projected lighting displays at the Ritz-Carlton, Merriam Theater, Hamilton Hall and Anderson Hall will be temporary for one month. The color-changing LED façade lighting at Terra Hall will be permanent. This public celebration of light is both an early kick-off to holiday festivities in Center City and a preview of more exciting lighting projects planned for South Broad Street in 2008 by the Center City District.
