An Uneasy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving from Asia

This is from Pastor I. John's not there to fine tune the English so it reads a little rough, but it comes from his heart:

We have no Thanksgiving Day, but on that day we as family will pray below the given verses and offer up thanksgiving:

for all goodness to the earth
for all goodness to the church
for all people in his church who share with us in generosity

before meal: Psalm 104.1a, 13-15
after meal: Psalm 103.1-5, 8, 13 (Deuteronomy 6.11-13 or 8.12-18a)

Arch Books

Sylvia Duggan writes:

I picked up a copy of the Jessie Tree Guide yesterday and was pleased to see the Arch books recommended as additional resources. I was raised on these books and still love and use them. I wanted to let others know that in addition to the purchasing resources listed in the booklet many of the ones suggested in the guide are also available on amazon.com. Additionally there are a fair number of Arch books in the church library including at least a few of those recommended in the guide. If the Arch books seem too "easy reader" for your family (my 7 and 9 yr. olds still like them) The Child's Story Bible by Catherine F. Vos, which gives nice narrative style versions of many biblical stories (also a much used favorite at our house), might be an option. A copy of the Vos book is in the church library and it is also availabe on amazon.

Food Donations

No, this is not the Ryken weekly grocery trip, but rather the food donations for the Sunday Rescue Mission. Thanks to everyone who participated.
